Oldham win in London to reclaim fifth place

On a gloomy and wet evening in West Ealing, Oldham overcame a plucky London Skolars side to win 46-18.

Four tries in each half, including a hat-trick from winger Lee Kershaw, saw the Roughyeds leapfrog Whitehaven into fifth place and set-up a potential semi-final at Odsal Stadium against the Bradford Bulls next weekend.

Leading 24-6 at the break, Oldham withstood a Skolars second-half rally before reaffirming their superiority and winning comfortably by the time the full-time hooter sounded.

All eyes will now turn to Bootham Crescent where league leaders York hope to overcome Whitehaven to win the League 1 title and gain promotion to the Championship.

A ‘Haven victory will allow them to snatch fifth place back for themselves and end Oldham’s season in the process.
