Newcastle game falls victim to the weather

THE scheduled Oldham v Newcastle pre-season game at the Vestacare Stadium tomorrow (Sun) is OFF because the pitch is snowbound.

Despite today’s sunshine the pitch is still 85 to 90 per cent covered in snow and more frost is forecast overnight and until late morning tomorrow.

Rain is then forecast but the weather change will be coming a day too late to save the Newcastle fixture.

Thunder are unable to rearrange, but Roughyeds are keen to get in another match as soon as possible, ahead of the start of the league season on February 17, so efforts will be made to find different opponents for a game one night this week.
