ROARY, our loveable-lion mascot who will soon be leading our new club for under-16s, Roary’s Pride, will again be sponsored this season by the Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre.
His work in the community dovetails nicely with that of the town’s well-known shopping centre which will stage a charity awareness day once a month for the remainder of 2019.
It also has a similar juniors’ club to Roary’s Pride, called Shopping Susie’s Kids Club, which will next meet on Saturday, March 23, offering free crafts, face painting, art area and prize draw.
Throughout the remainder of this year the Centre will continue to invite charities and local community groups to pop in and join Charity Awareness Day.
This is an opportunity for organisations to raise awareness of their activities and ways in which they can support the Oldham community.
Dates are on the following Wednesdays: March 20, April 24, May 22, June 19, July 24, September 18, October 23, November 20, December 18.
Spaces will be offered on a first-come basis and the Centre needs a copy of the each organisation ‘s public liability insurance.

In one form or another Spindles Town Square Shopping has been sponsoring Oldham RLFC for several years.
Of this latest agreement, the Centre’s manager Mike Flanagan said:
“We are pleased to be sponsoring our local rugby league club again for another year.
“We do it through Roary who is well known to us here. He is a terrific ambassador for Oldham RLFC and his work in the community fits in nicely with our own efforts in that regard.
“We wish Roary and Oldham RLFC every good wish for the season ahead.”
Club chairman Chris Hamilton said:
“We believe Roary is one of the best mascots in our game. Children love him and we know he’ll do a great job when we launch our new members’ club for under-16s and he gets his ‘Pride’.
“As always, we are extremely grateful to Spindles Town Square Shopping for backing us as they do and for supporting Roary in everything he does.
“Spindles have several community projects under way and if we can be of any assistance we will be only too pleased to help.”
