The Roughyeds

Your chance to help the club by helping ORSA

IN the past few weeks we have stressed many times how important it is for the club’s well-being and advancement for supporters to get behind the various initiatives and fund-raising events that we put on regularly.

Technically, the event we are pushing here is not an Oldham RLFC function, but one that falls under the ORSA umbrella. However, the more ORSA thrives the more they can provide the funds to meet various requirements of the players and coaching staff so in that regard one dovetails with the other.

For those who might not know ORSA stands for ‘Oldham Roughyeds Supporters’ Association’ — an independent body run by supporters for supporters with the aim of helping Roughyeds to be successful. Visit our ORSA page and you can learn all you need to know about the organisation, including how to raise funds at no cost to yourself by shopping on-line.

The specific fund-raiser coming up is billed as a Family Fun and Rugby Quiz Night on Thursday, April 18 (8pm) to be staged at the Higginshaw ARLFC Club, St Stephen’s Street, Oldham OL1 3QT.

ORSA has close links with ‘Higgy’, a local community club, and that association fits snugly with our determined efforts to build and develop our links with local schools, amateur clubs, the local rugby league community as a whole and even non-rugby bodies if it means we can help them in their objectives.

So mark Thursday, April 18 in your diary and your support on the night would be truly appreciated.

It costs only £1 to enter the quiz and there will be several prizes including a £200 cash jackpot.

More information is available from the club (07904 898177) or any ORSA member.

More specifically, you can ring Sheila Somerville on 01706 844810 or John McAndrew on 0161 633 1791 or 07980129541. They will be happy to tell you all about ORSA and the many ways in which you can become involved.
