Whitehaven’s 72-0 win at Coventry on Saturday gave the Cumbrians the Betfred League 1 title and, with it, automatic promotion to the Betfred Championship for the season 2020.
Despite our rivalry, the congratulations of Oldham RLFC go to Haven on a massive achievement which will be all the more satisfying to them given that pre-season nobody outside the Recreation Ground topped them or honours.
The second promotion spot goes to the winner of the five-club play-off involving clubs finishing 2 to 6 inclusive.
Final positions will be determined after three crucial games today, namely Hunslet v Oldham, Keighley Cougars v Newcastle Thunder and Workington Town v Doncaster.
Currently second, Roughyeds will stay there in the final reckoning if they win at Hunslet (3pm kickoff).
