Orsa Plea to Fans Who Shop Online

In line with the planning being done by our club for the 2021 season, the Oldham Roughyeds Supporters Association (ORSA) representatives recently contacted existing members to pursue for the renewal of their memberships and wish to thank those supporters who continue to support in this way.

Despite all the uncertainty that currently prevails, ORSA is keen to prepare for what lies ahead and anticipate whatever assistance they will be able to provide for Matt Diskin and the squad, whenever a return to action becomes possible. As an example of how funds are used, just before the lockdown in March, ORSA purchased some new tackle bags for use by the squad and they hope to build on the purchase of such equipment next season. With the raising of funds currently limited to memberships and quarterly receipts from amounts raised via their link with the Easyfundraising organisation, ORSA officials are especially keen to expand on the latter.

Funds raised from Easyfundraising do not cost anything, but are donations available from thousands of companies prepared to donate to listed causes, of which ORSA is one, merely by virtue of someone making an online purchase. Since ORSA registered with the organisation 2 years ago, over £500 has been raised and this is an amount raised from the online purchases made by just a small group of fans. However, given the increased popularity of online shopping, this source of income is far from being maximised in the way they would really like to see, so wish to encourage more fans to consider signing up with Easyfundraising.

Anyone can sign up with Easyfundraising and whether online shopping is done on a computer or a mobile phone, it really is very easy to get the free donations. An ORSA spokesperson remarked that,

“The fans who regularly use Easyfundraising, are in the habit of doing so and find it really satisfying to know that, merely by making their normal purchases, they are also raising valuable donations to benefit their team”.

So, if you have the club at heart and shop online, please do sign up and support ORSA’s fund-raising in this way and note that every penny raised, is used to support the needs of the playing squad.
