Look at these prices

OLDHAM fans have up to and including tomorrow (Friday) to take advantage of the discounts on Early-Bird season tickets.

Bearing in mind the sort of experienced squad we’ve assembled for 2021 and in the knowledge that clubs of the status and standing of Featherstone Rovers, Widnes Vikings, Halifax Panthers, Toulouse Olympique and London Broncos will be visiting us, we believe that by holding the prices at this year’s levels and effectively offering three free games, our season tickets represent excellent value for money.

Covid throws another consideration into the mix, but if we have to play behind closed doors to start with, our season-ticket holders will get FREE access to online coverage of both home and away games, whereas other fans will be required to go down the pay-to-view route to see our new-look team in action.

We’ve still got old favourites like Phil Joy, Gareth Owen, Jack Spencer, Matty Wilkinson, Danny Langtree and Liam Bent, but we’ve got former fans’ favourites coming ‘home’, like prop Luke Nelmes and centre Ben Heaton as well as ten more new faces, including the vastly experienced winger Ryan Ince and forwards Martyn Reilly, Liam Kirk and Shaun Pick.

Add a few new younger players, like prop Tyler Dupree from Leeds Rhinos and up-and-coming backs such as Tommy Brierley, Ben Holcroft, Max Roberts, Callum Green and local lad James Barran and its little wonder head coach Matt Diskin has expressed the view that he is much more confident than he was this time last year.

Back to the season tickets and you’ve only to divide each category price by 13 — the number of home games — to see the real value of what you are buying.

Paying £190 up front, an adult can buy a seat for the mathematical equivalent of £14.50 a game. It’s down to £13 a game for over-65s and, amazingly, only £3 a game for under-16s.

If you are happy to stand it’s even better — it works out at £13 a game for an adult, £11.50 for an over-65 and, wait for it, a give-away £1.50 for under-16s.

By way of comparison, here are match-day prices:

Standing: adults £17, over-65s £15; under-16s £2; Sitting: adults £19, over-65s £17; under-16s £5.

The club’s office is currently closed because of the pandemic but you can buy season tickets during office hours today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Fri) by ringing 07904 898177 or you can purchase online, via the club website, up until 11.59pm tomorrow (Friday).

“Our fans have been brilliant so far in supporting our initiatives during the lockdowns but the sale of season tickets, always hugely significant towards the club’s finances, is all the more crucial this year,” said club chairman Chris Hamilton. “Any help fans can give us on this will be hugely appreciated.”
