MAX Roberts, the young centre who was an ever-present for Roughyeds in 2021, has signed for Swinton Lions.
Aged 21, he played in all 23 games for Oldham — 21 in the Betfred Championship and two in the Challenge Cup — in his first season at that level.
He was one of only three players to figure in every game, but the other two, Danny Langtree and Liam Bent, played at least one game off the bench whereas Roberts started 22 times at centre and once in the second-row.
He was one of three young players to sign for Roughyeds from Wigan Warriors last autumn. The others were outside back Ben Holcroft and half-back James Barran.
Both Swinton and Oldham were relegated from the Championship this year (Swinton finished bottom and Oldham next to bottom), so in 2022 Roberts will be playing in League One against his former Bower Fold teammates.
