OUR next signing announcement will be made at 7pm tomorrow (Friday), given that all the media attention today is on tonight’s Fans Forum, which starts at 7.30pm in the Oldham Event Centre at Boundary Park.
A reminder that for anyone who didn’t attend our recent Awards Night at the same venue, access the large Boundary Park car park off Broadway and the Event Centre is right ahead of you.
Admission is FREE — we hope to get as many fans there as possible — and the bar will be open for those who like a drink.
On the platform will be chairman Chris Hamilton, vice-chairman John Roddy, head coach Stuart Littler and assistant coach Brendan Sheridan.
We will outline plans going forward — short term and long term — and we will make every effort, in answering questions, to be as transparent as possible.
It has been widely documented already, both locally and nationally, that these are difficult times for Rugby League, particularly on the financial front and especially for League One clubs.
Notwithstanding those difficulties, and as you already know, we have appointed John as vice-chairman (doubling up as managing director of our main club sponsors CDX Security); named Stuart as head coach on a two-year contract; reinstated Brendan as his assistant boss; and announced so far the signing of 16 players on contract for 2022.
Tomorrow’s announcement is to follow — and there will be more to come after that.
We make no apology for ‘spreading’ the signing announcements, or ‘drip feeding’ as some would like to put it, because that way we get maximum exposure and in terms of our own social media platforms that means greater and more lasting interest for our supporters and is of greater benefit to the club too; indeed a win, win situation.
Nothing is done without a reason; everything is done for the benefit of supporters and/or THE CLUB.
The 16 players announced so far are as follows:
BACKS: Joe Hartley, Ben Holcroft, Tommy Brierley, Martyn Ridyard, David Hewitt, Will Cooke, Calvin Wellington, Owen Restall.
FORWARDS: Brad Jinks, Luke Nelmes, Callum Cameron, Jack Coventry, Tom Grierson, David Mills, Jordan Andrade, Jason Muranka.
See you tonight; it promises to be a good gathering at which the results of the recent online fans' survey will also be revealed.
