RUGBY Oldham (the Supporters’ Trust), the Oldham RL Players’ Association and the Oldham RL Heritage Trust will all have strong representation at Thursday evening’s Fans Forum, organised by Oldham RLFC, at the Oldham Event Centre, Boundary Park, starting at 7.30pm.
Facing fans, and promising to be “transparent”, will be chairman Chris Hamilton, vice-chairman John Roddy, head coach Stuart Littler and his assistant boss Brendan Sheridan.
John Roddy, a former chairman of both Leigh Centurions and Swinton Lions, doubles up in his new Oldham role as managing director of Warrington-based CDX Security, the Roughyeds’ main sponsors.
He has special responsibility at Roughyeds for supporter-engagement and the Forum is a follow-up to a fans’ online survey which has already been conducted.
The results of that survey will be revealed at the Forum, which is expected to attract the biggest Roughyeds attendance in years for an event of its kind.
Further evidence of the way the various rugby league organisations in the borough are now supporting each other came at last Friday’s Saddleworth Rangers 91st birthday party at The White Hart, Lydgate when the Oldham RL Players Association had two tables at the £40-a-head five-course dinner, including five personnel who also doubled up as Oldham RLFC reps.
Roughyeds will also be present when the Players’ Association has a social night at Springhead Liberal Club on Friday, December 3 (7.30 start).
Tickets at £10-a-head include potato pie supper, comedian Lee Roberts and DJ music presented by former well-known amateur rugby league player Bing Findlater.
