Sir Kev does it again — and the world salutes him

KEVIN Sinfield OBE, pride of Waterhead ARLFC, of Leeds Rhinos, of Rugby League the world over and of the metropolitan borough of Oldham, has completed another epic challenge to receive tributes and messages of support from around the globe.

It goes without saying that the local hero’s latest Extra-Mile Challenge, a non-stop run of 101 miles from Leicester to Leeds inside 24 hours, is regarded by everyone at Oldham RLFC as unbelievable, awesome and truly fitting of a local man whose fund-raising achievements for motor neurone charities in general and for his close pal Rob Burrow in particular have raised millions of pounds.

Rob, one of Kevin’s former teammates at Leeds, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease two years ago and since then Kev has devoted much of his life to raising money not only for Rob and his family but for the MND Association nationwide.

He’s a remarkable man — and it’s not only his fellow Oldhamers who are saying it’s now only a matter of time before he receives a thoroughly well-deserved knighthood.
