Our backroom staff: No.4, Elyse-Paige Rutherford (sports therapist)

SHE started on placement from Edge Hill University in Ormskirk — named in this year’s Sunday Times Good University Guide as ‘Modern University Of The Year’ — and quickly became our head therapist.

Elyse-Paige Rutherford, aged 23, grew up and still lives in Dukinfield where she works full time from home for Health and Case Management Ltd (HCML), a leading service provider in rehab and case management.

She was introduced to the club by her friend’s relative Chris Noble, chairman of Sheffield Eagles and a close friend of Oldham RLFC chairman Chris Hamilton.

Having been at the club for almost a year, she is well versed in what’s what behind the scenes, in how to make the best use of her sports therapy degree and in what she expects from the Oldham RLFC job moving forward.

Said Elyse:

“I can’t claim to be a rugby league fan, but I don’t need to have knowledge of the game — just knowledge of sports injuries and how to deal with them.

“I love the Oldham job. I have a few laughs with the lads, who try to teach me about rugby league. I love being part of a group with a key role to play in the fortunes of that group.”

Head coach Stuart Littler spoke highly of the job Elyse is doing and said of her:

“She is very, very efficient. She always puts the lads first in looking after their injuries and she is a key member of the backroom team.

“She has a lead role within the rehab team and she works closely with strength and conditioning too.

“All five of them work well together to give us maximum backing and support.”
