Waterhead got their NCL third-division programme off to a flying start with a 24-4 win against local rivals St Anne’s on Waterhead Park.
They led 10-4 at half-time and finished with four tries overall, scored by Callum Murphy, Jenson Hamilton, Ciaran Dean and Harry Maders.
Jack Etchells replied for Saints just before half-time, but the visitors couldn’t capitalise when Waterhead’s Mitchell Birch was sin-binned on two separate occasions.
In division one, the Myton Warriors v Saddleworth Rangers game was postponed.
This coming Saturday, March 12, Rangers are at home to Skirlaugh in division one while in division three, St Anne’s entertain Batley Boys and Waterhead travel to Millom in Cumbria.
