Three days to go to the next home game

THREE days to go . . . and Roughyeds have announced a series of game-day initiatives, starting with Sunday’s visit of West Wales Raiders to the Vestacare Stadium.

Most of them apply to each of the remaining NINE home games against West Wales Raiders (this Sunday, 3pm), new-club Cornwall (April 24), Swinton Lions (June 5), Midlands Hurricanes (June 12), Rochdale Hornets (July 10), Doncaster (July 17), North Wales Crusaders (July 31), London Skolars (August 14) and Hunslet (September 4).

They are intended to enhance the game-day experience at the Vestacare Stadium and provide fans with increased value for money.

Roary, our legendary and extremely popular club mascot, will play an ever-increasing role in game-day events, particularly those involving under-16s, who get in FREE.

On Sunday, Roary and others will be handing out FREE draw tickets at the turnstiles – one to every adult, man or woman – for a chance to win one of three large Easter eggs or the star prize, a Spa Day for two with afternoon tea.

The Easter theme will be continued during the game when Roary, armed with a bucketful of mini-eggs, will distribute them to children.

Also, at every remaining home game, we are making strenuous efforts to increase activity in hospitality by having ex-players in there at every game, by switching from buffet to hot meal with two bottles of wine and a dessert, tea, coffee etc after the game and by offering special deals on match-day sponsorship/hospitality to both local businesses and supporters.

Local businesses out to raise their profile in the local community are invited to email the club at: enquiries@roughyeds.co.uk to find out about our great offers to Oldham firms. Together we can all move forward in these difficult times by promoting each other – strength in numbers – and enjoying live sport at the same time.

As for game-day sponsorship you can enjoy a table for six people (hot meal, two bottles of wine etc), comfortable seats at the game, car parking, interviews and presentations with players and club officials, mentions on our website and social media platforms, mentions at the game and direct access to a pay bar, all for £150 plus vat.

Every effort is going into making a Roughyeds home game the place to be and the place to be seen and that’s why we are asking you all, our loyal and committed regulars, to do again what many of you did at the Keighley game, namely, ‘Bring a mate and double the gate.’

We are not having a traditional printed programme this year – largely because there isn’t the demand for them any more; nor, indeed, is there sufficient demand for a digital, paid-for programme.

Instead, we will do, for home games, a Match Update on line. built around notes from the chairman and head coach, squads, a profile on one player from each side and the odd advert or club announcement.

This will be posted on the web FREE and emailed to everyone whose contact details we have on our club mailing list, again FREE.

Finally, we are planning to have a fans’ man-of-the-match award at every game, home and away, Club chairman Chris Hamilton will name four contenders and then you vote for one of those four.
