TWO days to go . . . and Roughyeds fans are getting increasingly excited at the prospect of what’s on offer at the Vestacare Stadium on Sunday.
Our 21-man squad, to be announced soon, might – just might – feature our latest on-loan signing from Wigan, teenage half-back LOGAN ASTLEY. who is said to be “in contention”.
Our long-term casualty list includes young half-back or hooker Seam Slater, with a knee injury, and it emerged at training last night (Thursday) that another young player who specialises in those two positions, Brad Jinks, has picked up a groin injury.
The club is currently waiting for medical reports on Brad as it assesses its requirements, moving forward, in the half-back and hooking roles.
With Dave Hewitt forced to miss most of the second-half in last Sunday’s 22-22 draw at Hunslet, victim of a hip injury, it clearly remains to be seen how the side will line up — and that’s something we won’t know for sure until an hour before kick-off.
What we do know for sure is the importance to the club of a first league win at the third attempt and the hope that fans will turn up in numbers to provide the club with the financial backing it needs to move onwards and upwards in the years ahead.
Our online ticketing for the West Wales game is up and running again, but the choice is yours — you can buy tickets in advance online OR pay at the turnstiles. Either way, you will be handed a FREE draw ticket as part of our early Easter promotion.
Saddleworth Rangers under-10s will play Leigh Miners Rangers under-10s, while Limehurst Lions under-10s will play opponents who have still to be ratified.
All the boys — and girls — will also conduct flag-bearing duties for us on a day they will never forget . . . especially if there are fans inside the ground early to give them a cheer.
