You'll be able to vote for your MoM

WE are planning to make your game-day experience even better by introducing a system in which you can vote for your OLDHAM man of the match.

We will keep you informed of all the details when we have settled on them, but club chairman Chris Hamilton will name his top four players at each game and then you can vote for one of those.

Entry will be FREE — just a bit of fun — but we can keep a running score of 1,2,3,4, in each match and come up with an overall winner at the end of the season.

As a service to supporters, again FREE, we intend to put The Match Update articles on the website and to send them out by email to everyone who is on the club’s mailing list.

Published before every home game, they will replace the usual match-day programme, printed or digital, because, to be honest, for quite a while now there has been very small take-up. Add to that the amount of hours it takes to produce a programme, and ever-increasing printing costs if we were to go down that route, and it makes sense to do something else, which again we can offer FREE.

‘Update’ includes notes from Chris H and Stu plus focus on a player from each side.

Another thing you need to know concerns a possible club trip to London on the last weekend in May. We play at London Skolars (New River Stadium) on the evening of Friday, May 27 and on the following day it’s the Betfred Challenge Cup Final, to be held this year at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is recognised as the best stadium in Europe, if not the world.

We have run trips to Wembley for the last year or two, so we asked fans on social media if they would prefer a day trip {Skolars or Challenge Cup Final) or an overnight stay Friday to take in both games.

The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of overnight to watch both games, so we will be looking into the feasibility and the costs of accommodation and we’ll let you know as soon as we have something to announce.

Finally, and on behalf of the Oldham RLFC Players; Association, might we take this opportunity to “plug” the Association’s special social night at The White Hart, Lydgate on the evening of Thursday, May 11.

There are only a few tickets left, priced at £25, including supper and entertainment by top tenor Victor Michael.
