OUR new and vibrant Supporters’ Group, YEDS, are staging a Race Night by day at the Fox and Pine on Greaves Street this Sunday, starting at 3pm. Admission is FREE and the organisers wish to point out that this hugely popular form of racing entertainment is open to EVERYONE.
All welcome, the more the merrier. You don ’t have to be a YEDS member to attend, or even a rugby league fan. This is open to ALL and the YEDS leadership will be thrilled to meet and greet you.
The event is sponsored by CDX Security, who are the Roughyeds’ main sponsors and whose chief is John Roddy, the club’s vice-chairman.
The YEDS’ latest venture into aiding the parent club is to sponsor (or pay for) our players’ food as they journey south today for tonight’s game against London Skolars at the New River Stadium in North London, kick-off 7pm.
Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton said:
“We really appreciate this help, which involves a significant financial outlay when you are feeding a match-day squad as well as their backroom team.
“Getting the food-intake right is an important part of match-day preparation, but it doesn’t come cheap to do it right.
“So thanks again you YEDS. This sort of help underlines once again just how important and supportive a group like this can be.”
YEDS official Jamie Hollingworth said:
“Our mission is to give all the help we can to the Roughyeds. That’s what we are here for. We know these long-distance away trips don’t come cheap, so we asked if we could help and this was the outcome.”
