THERE are two important close-season social events coming up . . . the Roughyeds’ presentation night on Friday, September 30, only £10 including supper, and another opportunity to mix and mingle with the players, and the Players’ Association’s annual dinner at St Herbert’s on Friday, October 14.
The Roughyeds event will be at the Oldham Event Centre, starting at 7.30pm . There’s lots of free parking at the Boundary Park venue, with access off Broadway, and we are hoping it will be a sell-out with fans not only looking for a great night but also looking for an opportunity to actively support the club in the off season when funds and cash flow are particularly tight.

Tickets for the Players Association dinner at St Herbert’s in mid-October are priced at £35 a head, which includes a three-course evening mail with cheese and biscuits.
The guest speaker will be Paul Sculthorpe MBE, arguably the greatest British rugby league star of the past 25 years and one of only three players to win the prestigious ‘Man of Steel’ award on more than two occasions.
Les Gibson, the comedian, was a runner-up in Britain’s Got Talent 2010, while Pete Emmett, the compere and MC, is an entertainer in his own right who has interviewed the likes of Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Michael Vaughan, Joe Root, Brian Blessed and Vinny Jones.
