RUGBY League legend Kevin Sinfield will be at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club this evening (Tuesday, Sep 13) for a star-studded bowls comp, proceeds from which will go towards the Motor Neurone Disease Walkathon Charity, organised by top Midlands bowler Lynn Pritchatt.
Lynn, who lost her long-time partner Mel Evans MBE to MND in 2017, has since devoted a lot of time to raising much-needed funds for MND research.
She was inspired by the heroic efforts of local ex-rugby league star Sinfield, who has raised huge sums of money for MND.
A former Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain player, Sinfield was deeply affected when his close friend and teammate Rob Burrow was struck down by MND and he has raised more than £2m for research by a series of marathon runs and an epic run from Leicester to Leeds which earned him national headlines and exposure. 5 ‘Sinny’ has agreed to lend his support by attending tonight’s bowls event at North Chadderton and the hope is that a lot of rugby league fans will take the opportunity to meet and greet him while perhaps supporting the MND charity at the same time.
The specially-arranged bowling match is a ten-a-side comp featuring Greater Manchester Legends v Greater Manchester Young Guns. It starts at 6pm.
