Amor on his entry into the media

CUMBRIAN forward Kyle Amor, the latest kid on the rugby league media block, who will be guest speaker at the Roughyeds’ 25th Anniversary dinner, has explained how he came to be behind the mic.

He made his name as a top forward with St Helens, but as the end of his playing career inevitably draws closer, he is rapidly becoming bigger and bigger as a TV pundit and commentator.

In a quickfire Q and A in a recent edition of ‘Rugby League World, Amor was asked by Dunbar:

How much support does a player get before being asked to fill a role in the media. Are you given aby formal training or coaching/mentoring before you take up the mic or are you just asked to be yourself ?

Replied the man himself:

“Everything I have ever done has been self-taught and this was no different. I just went in there and gave it a go, and if people liked it they picke3d up the phone and gave me another go and then another and another to the point where I am now. I have never had any training or anything, it’s just me being me.

I am a fan of the game and I hope that comes across.”

Amor (guest speaker) and Pete Emmett (MC) will provide the entertainment at the £35-a-head dinner, to be held on Friday, November 25 (7pm for 7.30pm) at the Oldham Event Centre, Boundary Park.

Tickets are available online on our ticketing page or you can ring the club office on 07904 898177.

Players and coaches will be in attendance.
