ROUGHYEDS are delighted to announce that Ethan Ferry will again play with Oldham in 2023 after signing a new one-year deal.
The second-row forward joined us fresh from amateur club Dewsbury Celtic and made 13 appearances in Betfred League One last year.
For Ethan, it was a straightforward decision to extend his stay by another year.
The 24-year-old said:
“Oldham gave me my professional debut and I didn’t really have anywhere else in mind.
“I enjoyed last year to the point where I really wanted to do it again, and I was lucky enough to get an offer.”
Looking to build on his first year in a professional environment, Ethan added:
“This year I’m hoping to really cement my spot in the team.
“Last year was a good year for me. I played a lot more than I expected and it has given me a confidence boost to cement my place in the team and be in it each week.
”A lot of good signings are coming in. I’m looking forward to playing with them.”
Head coach Stuart Littler said:
”Ethan was great last year to step up from the amateur game and to play like he did. He probably played a lot more games than he thought he would earlier in the year.
“He showed he can play both middle and back row positions. He does the right things and turns up for training early to make sure he’s on the field and putting his hand up for selection.
“He’s a great kid to have around and somebody who can only get better. People forget last year was his first season in professional rugby league.
“There are learning points in there, but he’s somebody in whom we see a lot of growth and development.”
