STUART Littler believes a week off going into the Good Friday derby against Rochdale Hornets will do his side good.
Roughyeds have not played since their hard-fought 18-4 victory over North Wales at the end of March and the free weekend has given Littler a chance to get things right.
“Rochdale have a weekend off like ourselves, so it’s a chance for them to freshen up and prepare well for us,” he said.
“We’ve upped our intensity in training over the next few days to put a few things right from the North Wales game.
“We’re under no illusions as a staff — we showed some real grit and resilience — but our execution wasn’t quite right in attack, so we’ve been working on that in preparation for Rochdale.”
The Roughyeds boss was pleased to see his men working for each other in the win over Crusaders, and believes there is a good team spirit in the camp at the moment.
Littler hopes that his side’s team spirit will benefit the club when they play 11 games back to back starting with the home game against Cornwall on May 7.
“The lads are enjoying each other’s company and that can only benefit us as a team, especially as we get further into the season,” he said.
“At the moment it’s a little bit stop-start, which is out of our control, but we’re growing off the field, as well as on it to put ourselves in the best position possible.”
Our Good Friday fixture has been moved from 3pm to a 7:30pm kick off to avoid a clash with Oldham Athletic who play Altrincham at Boundary Park.
