OLDHAM supporters Mike and Viv Travis have been on tour in California and Mike, the club’s official time-keeper, didn’t miss the opportunity to fly the flag for Roughyeds thousands of miles from home.
He is pictured here with Viv and their five-year-old grandson Aden, proudly wearing his Roughyeds jersey against a backcloth formed by the Pacific Ocean.
Mike’s Oldham RLFC top is one from last season, hence the CDX Security logo, but our chief sponsor this year and next is Amari Plastics Manchester, whose logo is featured on the front of the playing and replica jerseys and who have entered into a significant two-year deal.
One of Amari’s long-serving employees is our club’s official photographer Dave Murgatroyd, who is proud to be a volunteer for his home-town club, proud to be an Oldhamer, proud to be associated with Roughyeds and proud to work for Amari.
Mike and Viv flew to Orange County, near San Diego, to visit their son Richard, his wife Raya and grandchildren Aden, aged five, and Lana, who is still a baby.
Said Mike:
“We had a great time. Everything is so big out there. There’s fantastic scenery and everyone is very friendly. We never thought we would see the Pacific Ocean, which was awe-inspiring.
“It’s a totally different way of life, very expensive. We were sad to leave and when we got off the plane in Manchester it was snowing !
“We are now looking forward to summer and a great season for the Roughyeds.”
