ROUGHYEDS are delighted to announce the signing of prop Samy Kibula on a one-month loan from Batley Bulldogs.
The 23-year-old arrives at the club ahead of an important run of games against the likes of Hunslet, Doncaster and Dewsbury.
“Stu wants to win all the games coming up and, hopefully, I can help the team achieve that – it’ll be a good challenge for me,” said Kibula.
“I bring hard work with big strong carries, but I like to think I can bring a bit of entertainment at the same time.
“I played with Stu at Swinton and that was the last time I played my best rugby. We get on well so hopefully I can get back playing like that.”
Congo-born Kibula came through the Wigan Warriors system and was part of the Academy side which won back to back Grand Finals in 2017 and 2018.
After making one appearance for Wigan, he played two first team games for Warrington before he moved to Bradford Bulls.
He has lots of experience at championship level having made 48 appearances playing for clubs such as Swinton, Dewsbury as well as Bradford and Batley.
Eight of those were for Batley this year, where he scored three tries for Craig Lingard’s side.
“I’m delighted to get it done and over the line, he’s got a high skill set for a middle and, as well as that, he is big and hard to put down,” said head coach Stuart Littler.
“He’s got a good passing game and is someone I’ve worked with before at Swinton when he was on dual-registration, and I’m looking forward to working with him again.
“We’ve got a big month ahead with some big games coming up so I’m delighted to get it done and get him over the line.”
Kibula goes straight into contention for Sunday’s trip to the Alexander Stadium where the club faces Midlands Hurricanes.
Admission prices are £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for under-16s.
It is pay on the day only and fans should note the venue is cashless with only card payments being accepted.
