New date for Hunslet home game

PLEASE be aware that the home game against Hunslet, originally scheduled for Sunday, June 4, has been rearranged for Saturday, June 3 at the Vestacare Stadium with a 3pm kick-off. Vestacare Stadium is unavailable on June 4, hence the re-arrangement for the previous day.

This coming Sunday, May 7, we are at home to Cornwall and this match at the Vestacare Stadium kicks off early at 1pm, as do all games involving Cornwall, purely and simply to give them more time to make the exceptionally long trip home.

The Cornwall game this Sunday can’t come quickly enough, given that we have had two consecutive blank Sundays, but it’s the start of 11 games on the spin — four this month, four in June and three on the first three weekends in July before the next break.

The 11 stretching before us are as follows:

MAY: Sunday, 7th (this Sunday), Cornwall (H), 1pm kick-off to give our visitors more driving time in daylight on the long trip home; Sunday, 14th, Workington (A), 3pm; Sunday, 21st, Dewsbury Rams (H) 3pm; Sunday, 28th, Midlands Hurricanes (A), 3pm.

JUNE: Saturday, 3rd, Hunslet (H), 3pm; Saturday, 10th, London Skolars (A), 3pm; Sunday, 18th, Doncaster (H), 3pm; Friday, 23rd, Dewsbury Rams (A), 7.30pm. NOTE that in June we have two Saturday games and one on a Friday night, away at Dewsbury, kicking off at 7.30pm.

JULY: Sunday, 2nd, Workington (H), 3pm; Sunday, 9th, NW Crusaders (H), 3pm; Sunday, 16th, Hunslet (A), 3pm.

With home and away games against Dewsbury Rams, Workington Town and Hunslet and a home game against Doncaster, the next few weeks will be crucial in our promotion quest and with that in mind we need all the vocal backing we can get from the Vestacare terraces at home games.

It all starts this Sunday (1pm start) with the visit of Cornwall, who have signed prop Leo Tennison on a two-week loan from Hull KR. A product of Hull-based community club Skirlaugh, Tennison will be the latest Robin to ply his trade for our sport’s newest pro club following Nathan Cullen and Adam Rusling.

Tennison caught the eye when he made his first-team debut in a friendly at Featherstone.

Cornwall coach Mike Abbott said:

“Leo was really impressive. He carried the ball with purpose and he’s going to be a handful in League 1. He will be available for the Oldham game and we are looking forward to seeing how he goes against the Roughyeds.”

Cornwall have also extended the loan of Ewan Badham for the next two weeks and the Welsh forward will also be available for the next two games.

Former Oldham players Tom Ashton (centre) and Harry Aaronson (winger) played as a flank partnership last time out — a further tit-bit in a match which could see Stu Littler’s men return to third place in Betfred League One in their bid to climb into the Championship at the end of a critical campaign with IMG’s proposals coming increasingly to the fore.

Oldham’s record so far (three wins from four and unbeaten at home) is a good one. Long may it continue.

Admission prices for the game at the Vestacare Stadium on Sunday (1pm kick off) are £16 adults; £10 concessions (65 and over); £5 students and FREE for under-16s.
