Mike Ford and two of his three sons, Joe and George (all pictured on the front row) did a ‘Coaching the Coaches’ session at Melrose yesterday (Sat) as plans to resurrect town-team rugby for youngsters took another step towards reality.
Mike, back at Oldham RLFC in his new role as the club’s managing director, is seen in the centre of the front row next to Joe Warburton, who is proudly wearing his Oldham St Anne’s shirt.
“There were plenty of smiling faces and a really good turnout. This was also a great example of how we are going to use Melrose at community level,” said a Roughyeds spokesman.
Town-team rugby will start soon for under-11s, 12s, 13s and 14s with coaches and assistants at each level already being put though their paces by the Fords.
