THE RFL has issued the news that, on the back of a Match Review Panel (MRP) notice, the disciplinary committee has issued a one-match penalty notice on our prop Luke Nelmes, who was sin-binned near the end of last Sunday’s game at Hunslet.
He was later charged with a grade C striking offence and banned for one game.
Deane Meadows was also cited (sin-binned for a professional foul) but in his case no further action was taken.
Roughyeds were down to 11 men for a short time before losing 21-8. They don’t have a game this Challenge Cup semi-final weekend, but there are four Betfred League One games on Sunday — Cornwall v Workington Town; Dewsbury Rams v North Wales Crusaders, Doncaster v Midlands Hurricanes and Rochdale Hornets v London Skolars.
Oldham are now guaranteed a play-off spot, but if Workington win in Penryn on Sunday, the Cumbrians will go above Roughyeds into fourth place, thus pushing Stu Littler’s men to fifth behind Dewsbury, Hunslet, Doncaster and Workington,
Roughyeds have four games left before the play-offs, including the clash with Town at the Vestacare Stadium which has still to be re-arranged, but will probably be a midweek night match next month.
