Admission prices confirmed for our big Boundary Park return

ROUGHYEDS have re-iterated that, although Boundary Park is an all-seat stadium, admission prices for our re-arranged game there on Wednesday week, August 23 (7.30pm kick-off) against Workington Town, will be unchanged from those at the Vestacare Stadium.

The new 2,500-seat Joe Royle Stand will be open and under-16s will get in FREE, as they do at the Vestacare on the other side of town, with adults paying £16 and concessions £10 — all three categories the same as usual, writes ROGER HALSTEAD.

“We like to think we are offering value for money, but we also wanted to keep things simple for everybody,” said Roughyeds managing director Mike Ford, who enthuses about what he calls “a big night” for town and club.

There’s just one change to the pricing structure — the introduction of a £25 ticket which includes admission, a seat for the game and pie and peas for supper.

Conscious of the fact that some under-16s, who get into the game FREE, might be there with adults, the board has said under-16s can get into hospitality for pie and peas for £10.

It may include, still to be confirmed, a Q and A session with a club personality from the era when Ford, now aged 57, was an Oldham player in that exhilarating season of 1989-90.

That was the year when Oldham won promotion to the First Division, reached the third round of the Regal Trophy, the final of the Lancashire Cup, the semi-final of the Challenge Cup and the final of the Second Division Premiership at Old Trafford, after which they had a Civic Reception back in Oldham.

“I might even get in to hospitality myself before the Workington game ,” added the Oldham supremo, “but as interim coach I can’t be sure. I might not be able to get away from the dressing room.”

The club is looking forward to next Sunday’s derby at Rochdale – the start of a crucial three games in eight days in which Oldham will go head to head with Hornets, Workington Town on the Wednesday and finally Midlands Hurricanes to bring down the curtain on the 2023 regular season.

Then come the play-offs. We’ve a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks.
