Johnson given one-match ban

OLDHAM prop Josh Johnson, who was sin-binned in the later stages of the mid-week win against Workington Town at Boundary Park, has since had his actions examined by the Match Review Panel and has been suspended for one match, which will apply to this coming Sunday’s play-off game at Doncaster.

Johnson was charged with a grade ‘B’ offence of ‘dangerous contact’ and will miss this Sunday’s game because of a slight change in the regulatory timing of such things because the regular season has finished and we are now in play-off time.

Workington had two players sin-binned in the same game – Jordan Thomson for ‘foul language’ (not suspended) and Jordan Burns for ‘pushing an opponent in a melee’ and thus ‘taking control away from the referee’ (no further action).

Several players were suspended or fined for various alleged offences, including Liam Horne (two matches and £250 fine) and Liam Watts (one match), both of Castleford Tigers and Kaide Ellis (one match) of Wigan Warriors.
