WIDNES Vikings have announced the appointment of Swinton’s Allan Coleman as their new head coach on a two-year contract that starts on October 1. The club has an option for a third year.
Coleman (47) was Stuart Littler’s assistant at Swinton before he was promoted to head coach at Heywood Road during the 2021 season.
Littler, the former Ireland boss, was Oldham’s head coach until Monday night when he was “relieved of his duties”.
Mike Ford, our managing director, a former Oldham player and coach and later a top coach in Rugby Union, has taken over to the end of the season.
Depending on how Oldham fare in the Betfred League One play-offs, Ford will have a minimum of five games in charge and a maximum of seven.
Littler’s two-year contract at Oldham was due to expire at the end of this season.
