Ray Hicks, of the Players Association, has asked us to remind everyone that Bob Henthorn’s funeral is at Oldham Crem this Friday, December 1,at 10am. (Crem booked for an hour) and afterwards at the Fox and Pine, Greaves Street in Oldham town centre to raise a toast to Bob and to thank him for all his hard work on behalf of what was then the Ex-Players’ Association .
Despite losing a leg in a car crash when he was 18, Bob never let his disability get the better of him and, for many years, he was the ‘voice’ of the Ex-Players and a leading official too.
He died in the Royal Oldham Hospital, aged 79, after a long illness.
The Funeral Directors are Barlows and the family would love to see as much Oldham RLFC representation as is possible, given that the club generally and the Ex-Players Assn in particular were so important to him.
