MIKE Ford alongside boss Sean Long and his two assistants, Jordan Turner and Joe Wardle, presented fans the Law Cup at the Fox and Pine on Tuesday night.
Long, Turner and Wardle mingled with fans at the packed out micropub recently awarded Greater Manchester’s Pub of the Year by CAMRA, as a way of promoting the game – as well as generating interest ahead of the 2024 League One campaign.
Long addressed the fans sharing his thoughts on the Keighley game as well as commenting on the calibre of the squad at his disposal.
Fans will be able to see the cup with it remaining on display at the venue until the game at the Crown Oil Arena on January 21.
“Our recruitment has been really good – we’ve got a good blend of experience and youth, there’s no egos and everybody mucks in,” he said.
“We’re training hard but everybody has bought into how we want to attack and defend, and I can’t fault the lads as they’ve been outstanding.
“There are still some things to work on, it was our first hit out and we can get better.”
The venue on Greaves Street has been a regular haunt in recent years with several club and supporters group meetings held there.
Jordan Turner spoke of his pride at representing his hometown club and excitement for the upcoming League One season.
“I have seen what the club has been through for the last 20 to 30 years, but there is real excitement around the town for the first time in many years.
“There’s a buzz surrounding the club at the moment and I’m really excited for the season to start.”

“Hopefully, we will retain it (the Law Cup) on January 21, but for now its ours and I know Longy (Sean Long) and the club regard the derby as a big match with silverware for the winners.
“It’s a great privilege to be part of that and to welcome the Roughyeds to the Fox and Pine.”
