WE beat Rochdale 38-12 at Boundary Park yesterday to finish top of group four in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup and to earn a quarter-final tie at York in a fortnight.
If we win at York we are home to either Sheffield Eagles or Batley Bulldogs in the semi-final, so two games from Wembley with potential for a home semi-final. First and foremost there’s a lot riding on that tie at York !
To get there we swept Rochdale aside in the first half to lead 26-0 at the interval but credit never-say-die Hornets with a rousing second-half which finished all square at 12-12.
Nevertheless. Oldham are still unbeaten in five games under Sean Long as head coach and a crowd of 1,662 – the club’s biggest for years – saw them pull it off.
Right-wing Mo Agoro scored a long-range try and prevented a certain Hornets try with a brilliant cover tackle to win the man-of-thr-match award.
