What is ORSA?
The Oldham Roughyeds Supporters Association, is the official but independently run supporters club of Oldham RLFC and is fully accountable to its members.
Who is involved?
ORSA is run by a group of fans who are fully committed to their support of Oldham RLFC, in particular the requirements of the coaching and playing staff. Although it is a small organisation, it does make a significant contribution to their requirements. The voluntary committee is made up as follows:
- Chairperson: John McAndrew;
- Vice Chairperson: Phil Ward
- Secretary: Grant Somerville;
- Treasurer: Sheila Somerville
They are supported by a group of members who regularly attend the meetings and decisions are made by the consensus of the whole group.
How are ORSA funds used?
All funds are held in a dedicated ORSA bank account and are used in various ways throughout the season, to assist the playing and coaching staff.
Over the course of the last 2 seasons we were pleased to sponsor Liam Bent, a true fans’ favourite whose work rate and attitude was recognised with him winning the Supporters’ Player of the Year award (also sponsored by ORSA) in both of those seasons.
However for the 2020 season, due to our limited resources, we have decided that we can no longer sustain the cost of player sponsorship and that our funds will be used for purposes that will more directly help the squad.
Initially this will involve ORSA continuing to sponsor some of the nutritional requirements of the squad, followed by regularly reviewing our budget, in line with their further requirements as the season progresses.
