Match Preview: Oldham vs Barrow

Oldham's win streak faces another test this Sunday at Boundary Park when Roughyeds take on Barrow Raiders (3pm kick-off).

With both sides chasing crucial play-off positions, there is plenty riding on this one, with Barrow looking to strengthen their claim for a home tie and Oldham aiming to keep their push for second place alive.

When the sides met back in May, Barrow were second in the table, but have since slipped to fifth and have lost their last two matches, while Oldham have climbed to third.

Sunday's fixture is proudly sponsored by J&B Installation Group, while Kite Telecoms are the official match ball sponsors.

Team News

Oldham have named a similar squad to the one which was announced ahead of last week's 60-16 win over Hunslet.

Value Tanē Bentley, whose signing was announced this week, comes into the squad and could make his Roughyeds debut this weekend.

Alan Kilshaw gave an update on bodies to Roughyeds TV, as well as previewing this weekend's game, which you can watch here.

Squad in full: 1. Jack Walker, 3. Ben O'Keefe, 4. Ben Davies, 5. Jake Bibby, 6. Morgan Smith, 7. Tom Forber, 9. Matty Wildie, 10. Owen Farnworth, 11. Matty Ashurst, 12. Ryan Lannon, 13. Adam Milner, 15. Ted Chapelhow, 16. Ewan Moore, 21. Tom Nisbet, 22. Tom McKinney 23. Josh Drinkwater, 26. Brad Day, 27. Bayley Liu, 29. Luke Forber, 00. Tane Bentley, 00. Finlay Irwin.

The Opposition

Barrow will arrive at Boundary Park intent on imposing their trademark aggressive style as they look to unsettle the Roughyeds.

The reverse fixture was a fiery affair, producing four yellow cards, but Oldham overcame a nightmare start after falling 12-0 behind inside the opening five minutes and seeing two tries ruled out before storming to a 40-18 victory.

That competitive edge has shown no signs of fading. Shane Toal and Luke Broadbent were both sin-binned during last weekend's 24-8 defeat to Widnes Vikings, a result that saw the Raiders slip from fourth place.

With Widnes now above them, Barrow will be eager to bounce back and reclaim their play-off position, although history is against them. The Cumbrians have not won away at Oldham since 1981.
