Club News

The ORLFC Foundation is launching a new rugby league programme at Netpar Training Centre this September, giving girls aged U7-U11 the opportunity to get involved in the sport in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.

RugBees is a national programme designed to help young girls begin their rugby journey, creating an exciting space where they can learn new skills, build confidence, make friends and develop a love for the game.

The launch comes as women’s and girls’ rugby league continues to grow from strength to strength across the area. The Roughyeds’ women’s side are competing at the top end of Northern League 3, while more than 74 girls recently took part in a Schools Final held at Netpar Training Centre.

The ten-week programme will be delivered by ORLFC Foundation coaches Natalie Howarth and Joe Warburton, with sessions beginning on September 5 at the club’s training ground on Fields New Road, OL9 8NH.

Sessions will take place every Saturday from 10am-11am, with all participants receiving a free RugBees to Roughyeds T-shirt.

No experience is necessary – whether you have never picked up a rugby ball before or are looking to try something new, we would love to welcome you to Netpar and help you start your rugby journey.

Sessions cost just £2 per week (£20 for the full ten-week programme), with a discounted rate of £15 available when paying upfront. Participants can choose to pay week-by-week or secure their place for the full programme in advance.

Spaces are limited, so book your place today and become part of the next generation of Roughyeds.
