Roughyeds centre Ben Davies has promised Oldham fans he can get even better, as he looks to fire the club to success in the 2026 Betfred Championship.
The former St Helens star was a stand-out performer as Oldham secured a top-four finish in 2025, admitting that he has fallen back in love with the game since his move to the club.
"All I wanted to do here was play every week and I got that chance," Davies told Roughyeds TV, as he looks to build on his five tries in 17 Oldham appearances to date.
You have seen sparks of what I can do. So I just want more of that now.
The best of me is still to come. I am always going to strive to be a better player and a better team-mate on and off the pitch so hopefully I can bring some more sparks."
Davies scored 11 tries in 41 Saints appearances after making his Super League debut in 2020, having broken through at hometown club Widnes. Noe settled at Oldham he hopes the team can kick on from the success of a top-four finish as well as learning from the disappointment of that home playoff defeat to Halifax.
"On the day Halifax were good and we were poor and didn't handle it right. We wanted to keep playing and show who we were as a team so it stings a little bit, but that is what this time of the year is for - to get that sting out.
We need to take the lessons and learnings from the year and bring it into this new fresh start. We need to take the good and leave the bad in the past. There should be the same excitement from the players, the fans and everyone.
Pre-season is the hardest part of the year as you don't get the reward of playing which is what we want to do, and the weather is cold wet and gloomy, but it is the part you need to do to get ready for the games."
