Chairman urges town to get behind the Roughyeds

Chairman Terry Flanagan MBE has issued a call to arms to the town of Oldham to get behind the Roughyeds as they take on London Broncos this Sunday.

The full-time Broncos have won all 21 of their matches in the Betfred Championship so far, but Alan Kilshaw’s side are out to cause an upset and continue their push for a top-two finish.

In a bid to get a big crowd at Boundary Park, the club has already slashed admission prices for Under-16s, who will be able to watch the game for FREE, and now Flanagan has called on supporters to get behind the lads.

“If you like your sport, and you love your rugby, there is a feast on show on Sunday,” said the new Roughyeds chairman.

“The unbeaten leaders London Broncos are in town and everybody at the club is looking forward to a great game and event this weekend.

“To anybody with a sporting interest, London are a team littered with wonderful international players and it will be a delight to see the Papua New Guineans, Tongans, Australians and Kiwis.

“They’re a very well organised, well-coached team that will do battle with the Roughyeds and I am urging everybody to come down and enjoy it.”

Sunday will be an action-packed day of rugby at Boundary Park, with the club encouraging supporters to get there early to cheer on the Under-18s, who take on Widnes Vikings. Kick off is 11:30am.

Fans are welcome to wear their rugby shirts and show off their colours, whether that’s a Roughyeds jersey, an amateur club, junior team or even your favourite Super League side – but everyone is welcome to join us for what promises to be a special afternoon at Boundary Park.

Oldham are currently third, and a win over the Broncos would provide a major boost to their hopes of finishing second – a position that would bring a first-round play-off bye and a home tie in week two.

With London arriving unbeaten and Oldham looking to make a statement against the Championship leaders, Flanagan believes there is every reason for supporters to make Boundary Park their destination this Sunday.

Tickets can be bought online or on the day and are priced at £20 for adults, £18 for concessions, £5 for Under-18s and FREE for Under-16s.
