Oldham RLFC announces SportsTown as principal shirt sponsor for 2027

Oldham Rugby League Club 1876 Limited is delighted to announce SportsTown as its principal shirt sponsor for the 2027 season. The SportsTown logo will appear on the front of the club’s playing shirts.

The partnership brings together two organisations with a shared commitment to sport, community and local talent. SportsTown is the vision of the Rothwell family, owners of Oldham Athletic and SportsTown Ltd, alongside chief executive Darren Royle.

SportsTown’s commitment to grassroots and professional sport makes it a natural partner for Oldham RLFC as the club continues to build for the future.

The sponsorship will help the club pursue its ambitions both on and off the field. It demonstrates confidence in the club’s vision and future.

Everyone at Oldham RLFC would like to thank SportsTown for its support and welcome it to the Roughyeds family. We look forward to building a successful and lasting partnership.

Gary Kershaw, Director of Oldham Rugby League Club 1876 Limited, commented:

“Having SportsTown as our principal shirt sponsor for the 2027 season is a clear demonstration of the relationship we have with the owners and directors of Oldham Athletic Football Club.

Since we acquired the club, they have welcomed us with open arms and treated the relationship very much as a partnership.

They have welcomed us into discussions about SportsTown, and we very much look forward to working alongside them to help make that vision a reality.”

The Board of SportsTown Ltd commented:

“We are delighted to support Oldham Rugby League Club as its principal shirt sponsor for the 2027 season.

Since the club’s new ownership took over, we have worked closely together to develop a positive and collaborative relationship, built on a shared ambition to see both clubs succeed and to strengthen the role of professional sport in Oldham.

SportsTown is about creating opportunities through sport, education, health and community participation. Rugby league has a proud heritage in Oldham, and we see the Roughyeds as an important part of the wider sporting landscape and our long-term vision for the town.

This sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to supporting that vision in a practical way. We look forward to continuing to work alongside Terry and his colleagues, building a strong relationship that benefits both clubs, their supporters and the wider Oldham community.”

Terry Flanagan MBE, Chairman of Oldham Rugby League Club 1876 Limited, commented:

“Our great relationship with the Latics, together with our long-term home at Boundary Park, will enable the rugby league family to help turn the SportsTown vision into reality. It is an exciting time for us all.”
