Oldham RLFC Pathway teams in action

Joe Warburton, who runs the RFL’s Pathway scheme on behalf of Oldham RLFC, has let us know that Roughyeds were involved yesterday in their first Pathway event of the school Easter holidays.

The Year 10s (under-15s) played games against Leeds Pathway and Halifax Pathway at the Kirkstall training complex of Leeds Rhinos and did very well indeed.

Of the 45 players who have been attending Oldham training sessions over the past four weeks 32 lads were available for this.

Coaches Casey Mayberry (Oldham St Anne’s), Adam Pirouzan (Rochdale Mayfield) and Darren Grafton (Saddleworth Rangers) split them into A and B teams of equal groups with no particular strategy.

The A team, pictured in red and white, beat Leeds A 16-0, but then lost to Halifax A by the same score. The B team. pictured in orange and black) beat Halifax B 24-0 and then beat Leeds B 8-0.

This morning (Thursday) there was a skills festival at Hathershaw School, open to Years 7, 8, 9.

Other games/festivals over the Easter school holidays are scheduled as follows:

• Tuesday 9/04/24, Year 10s (under 15s) Play Salford Reds at Melrose (10am).
• Wednesday 10/04/24 Year 6 & 7 (under 12s) play Salford in a 9-a-side festival at Cadishead Rugby Club (10am)
• Wednesday 10/04/24 Year 11s (under 16s) play Leeds at Melrose (10am).
• Thursday 11/04/24 Year 8s (under 13s) play Salford in a 9-a-side festival at Cadishead (10am)
• Thursday 11/04/24 Year 9s (under 14s) play Salford at Cadishead (1pm).
