One of our fans wins £1,000 on the lottery

It pays to join our lottery – just ask keen Oldham fan Anne Kearns, who won the first prize of £1,000 in mid-July.

Anne is a keen Oldham fan, who was formerly a volunteer worker for the club which she ‘adopted’ when living in Bury some years ago. She actually ran the club single-handedly while the then owner, Chris Hamilton, was in hospital for a major heart operation and was away from the club, under strict medical orders, for several weeks.

With a background in nursing and NHS administration, she was pretty clued up on social media, internet etc and she did a great job, taking control of the office and club on a day-to-day basis,

Now living near Derby to be closer to her policeman son, Anne doesn’t make it to Oldham games any more, but she continues to be in our lottery, with whom we are in partnership with NYCDA.

“it was great to win the first prize. I readily agreed to publicity when John McAndrew told me I had won because I hoped it would help the club,” said Anne. “I always look-out for Oldham results. I’m not ‘in it to win it’, more to help the club, but it’s nice to win a prize nevertheless,”

Anne, who won the weekly £1,OOO prize with her number OA5664, pays £2 a week for a double share, but you can pay £1 a week and enjoy full entry for guaranteed weekly prizes of £1,000, £100, £50 (two), £25 (two) plus a consolation prize of £10 (ten). The draw, formerly, known as Club Cash but now named the NYCDA Weekly Draw, is made every Wednesday and the results are posted on the Roughyeds’ newly-designed website as soon as we can get them up there.

Just go on the Roughyeds website and follow the links to ‘lottery’ which tells you all about it – and how you can help the club while at the same time winning a handsome prize, as Anne did, writes ROGER HALSTEAD.

We should also tell you that, in addition to the guaranteed prizes mentioned above, there is a non-guaranteed weekly jackpot of £500 which is operated under a different system, hence it isn’t won every week. When it isn’t won, the £500 rolls over to the following week’s prize pot up to a maximum of £10,000. Yes, you can win as much as £10,000 for a lay-out of £1.

That’s got to be good for a punt. You are helping the club, YOUR club, at the same time –and all for £1. You can’t even buy a coffee for that

Anyway, read all about it on our website via the links to lottery and when it mentions local lads who have made it big don’t forget also the likes of Barrie McDermott, Iestyn Harris, Martin Hall, Des Foy, Mike Ford and, more recently, younger lads like Josh Thewlis, Olly Russell and Zach Eckersley. Apologies if I’ve missed some, as I probably have.

They haven’t all played for Oldham . . . but isn’t that the point?

+ John McAndrew, who has run the lottery for years, is in regular contact with NYCDA and tells me the lottery’s two collectors are both in their 80s and plan to call it day soon, He asks that if anyone out there would like to help the club by spending a few hours each week on door-to-door collecting they should contact him in the first instance on 07980 129541.
