It has been a very sad week for the whole of the rugby community following the sad news of Rob Burrow’s passing. As you all know, Rob always wore No 7 in his fabulous Rugby League career.
In recognition, our club chairman Bill Quinn has come up with the idea that as we we have SEVEN home games remaining we would like to do SEVEN bucket collections with a view to raising up to £7,000 for the battle against MND.
Said Bill:
“In tribute to Rob – and long may his legacy continue in the fight against MND — we can all be part of trying to find a cure for such a terrible disease.”
Rob died at the age of 41 after contracting Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in December, 2019, Along with his friend and former team mate Kevin Sinfield, an Oldhamer, Rob helped to raise nearly £20m for the fight to find a cure. He was awarded the CBE. Rob was cherished not only by Leeds Rhinos fans but by rugby league fans everywhere.
