Josh Simm will remain an Oldham player in 2027 after signing a one-year contract extension.
The winger initially joined the Roughyeds on a short-term deal in August but has now committed to the club for the full 2027 campaign.
And Simm has one clear aim to achieve with the club in the upcoming season.
“I’ve signed to win the competition,” he said. “I wouldn’t be here if we were just aiming to be a mediocre team.
Alan [Kilshaw] has reiterated to me that we will be fighting for the top… the players that we have signed and the ones we’ve got coming in, it’s something to be excited about and that’s why I’m on board.
I’ve actually really enjoyed it at Oldham so far. I thought it would be quite hard going into a part-time environment, but I've actually thrived.
I've still got a lot of rugby in me and I just want to keep building.
The goal is to play 20 plus games this year and stay fit… build on last season and hopefully win something.”
Simm began his professional career at St Helens, making his first-team debut in 2019 and going on to make 19 appearances for the club before moving to Australia to play in the Queensland Cup in 2023.
He returned to England and spent three seasons with Castleford Tigers before a brief spell at Catalans Dragons, ahead of his move to Oldham.
The outside back made an immediate impression in a Roughyeds jersey, scoring on his debut, and will now be looking to build on that start as he prepares for a full season with the club.
Head coach Alan Kilshaw said:
“I’m looking forward to having Josh with us from November. He joined the squad towards the back end of the season at a difficult time of the year, but he showed his ability in the games he played.
He was also hampered by an ankle niggle that he played through, which showed his toughness and commitment to the team.
With a full pre-season behind him, I’m really looking forward to seeing Josh consistently in an Oldham shirt. He has plenty of Super League experience and has been at some very good clubs, working within strong systems.
Now it’s about us collectively creating the right environment to get the best out of Josh and help him perform consistently in an Oldham shirt.
I’d also like to thank our Chairman, Terry Flanagan and director Martin Hall for their support in getting this deal done.”
