Sinfield’s 7 in 7 challenge heads to Boundary Park

Sir Kevin Sinfield will pass through Boundary Park as he continues his 7 in 7 Challenge to raise money to support the MND community this Thursday.

Sinfield and his team – which includes Roughyeds directors Phil Allingan and Chris Stephenson, will make the journey from Huddersfield to Salford on day five, making their way through Sinfield’s home town of Oldham before arriving at the Sheepfoot Lane side of Boundary Park at around 12:30pm.

Oldham supporters are being encouraged to head down to the stadium to show their support as Sinfield and his team make their way through the town.

The 7 in 7: The Grand Finale is the seventh and final annual challenge undertaken by Sinfield to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

It began at Hull KR on Sunday, with the team completing an ultra marathon every day for seven days before finishing at Old Trafford ahead of the Betfred Super League Grand Final on Saturday, October 3.

As well as Boundary Park, the route will take in all 12 English Super League grounds during the week.

Roughyeds director Chris Stephenson is part of the running team, while Phil Allingan is part of the cycling team alongside fellow Oldhamers Darrel Rogers and Martin Wolstencroft, all of whom have strong rugby connections.

The challenge is once again being held in memory of Sinfield’s former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND in 2019 and sadly died in June 2024, aged 41.

The number seven has remained central to the challenges because Burrow wore the No.7 shirt during his Leeds career.

Since the first 7 in 7 challenge in 2020, Sinfield and his team have raised more than £11 million for the MND community.

This year’s challenge is targeting a further £777,777 for six MND charities across the UK and Ireland.

Oldham supporters are encouraged to get behind the team when they reach Boundary Park on Thursday and give them a big Roughyeds welcome.
