Update from CEO David Bottomley

02/05/2026

Club News

A very good day to all roughyeds supporters on this May bank holiday weekend.

I have wanted to update all our supporters regarding the club, since the announcement on Tuesday that our chairman Bill Quinn had stepped down from his position as Chairman of the club.

Bill has contributed so much more than finance during his current almost 3 year association with the club. His vision and ideas off the field have led directly to the great success the club has achieved in a very short period of time. I ask at this moment we respect the privacy of Bill and his family as he steps aside to concentrate on being back to full health again.

I also wanted to update all on the progress made this week and to set aside the conjecture and speculation that abounds on social media. A group of people, including all our staff and directors, have worked tirelessly to be in a position to pay April salaries and we have a professional plan to move the club forward as a sustainable going concern, am also grateful to sponsors, some of them new, who have contributed also this week.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of meeting with the players after training, as you will see from the clips – we can’t wish for a finer more motivated group of professional to represent our club, the team spirit under Alan is wonderful and we are all excited by the prospect of tomorrows match at Barrow.

We are, as a club, in a difficult position but a position with the help of you the supporters we can overcome, we will next week be launching everything from our August Golf day, to our 150th anniversary dinner tickets to a new 1,000 club initiative. We still have some players available to sponsor and match sponsorship options and ask you get behind all of these at this time.

We also hope to make, in the next few days, an announcement that we know will be well received by many Yeds, so please support the club, buy tickets for Barrow through the link on our site as the club benefits financially from this, I would ask you all not to speculate but to share support at this time and be assured a group of highly motivated people are behind moving this great club forward.

See you at Barrow and further updates will follow next week.

Enjoy the weekend,
David Bottomley
