We need you: Quinn urges fans to join Oldham’s charge

Chairman Bill Quinn has called on Oldham's fanbase to rally behind the club's push for success and fill out Boundary Park to watch Sean Long's exciting Roughyeds.

Oldham stunned much-fancied York Knights on their return to the Betfred Championship on Sunday, running riot at Boundary Park with a stylish 50-4 win. Another heavyweight clash awaits this coming Sunday, as one of the game's oldest names Batley Bulldogs come to town for round 2.

But the backdrop to the team's strong start was a crowd of 1525 - a number that Quinn has urged supporters needs to grow, to reward the continued efforts of the club on and off the field.

"I was watching the team, the performance and thinking of everybody who has worked to get to that point," Quinn tells The Boundary Line, on Roughyeds TV.

The players, the coaches, the medical staff, everybody.

I went home on Sunday and thought I should be sat here so happy - and I am - but these players deserve more than 1500. I am very grateful to the fans who turn up but we can't build and dream of Super League if we are not going to get the support.

We use the strapline 'Stronger Together' and I don't know what more could we do - I will ask the fans and the public of Oldham - what more we can do? What do we need to do to get that attendance up to put the fear of god in our opponents and really make it special?"

The Oldham chairman joins Long and George Riley on a must-watch new episode of The Boundary Line, in which the trio analyse the ingredients of the York Knights win, look ahead to the Bulldogs' visit and offer an insight into the progress being made by the club off the pitch. Attendances are a passionate discussion point, with both Quinn and Long stressing that getting bums on seats is crucial to every aspect of club development.

"We put in one of our best performances since I have been here and we want more fans to come down and experience the whole event of gameday," adds Long.

We want more fans, they are loud enough with 1500, so imagine what it would be like with 5000! That would be different gravy and the lads would be pumped up even more. The fans are doing a great job but now we need you even more. We want to get you down to cheer us on - you have had a taste of what we are like - but come down and you will be in for an entertaining day."
