Wigan will bring their full squad of superstars along with the Super League, Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge trophies to Boundary Park this month when Oldham host the champions in an exciting pre-season friendly.
The Warriors have confirmed that all of their star-studded squad will be in attendance - whether selected to play or not - along with their full compliment of glittering silverware from what was an all-conquering 2024, with Roughyeds fans set to have the chance to meet the Wigan players and see the trophies in our new-look Bar 1895 before the game.
The fixture is already expected to bring in a big crowd, with fans urged to book now to avoid disappointment ahead of what promises to be a memorable afternoon as Sean Long's League 1 champions take on the best club side in world rugby league.
"I wanted this game against the best team in the world at the moment," Long told Roughyeds TV.
They have set the bar so it will be good for our lads to have a dig. They might not play a full team but whoever goes out on to that field will be ripping in. It will be a tough fixture which I wanted as it will make us battle-hardened for the season. That is where we will get stuff done and learn from it."
One familiar face with be George Hirst, who is set to turn out in the cherry and white of Wigan before returning to Oldham on loan following his move to the Super League giants.
"George will be playing for Wigan and the lads know him and he's in good shape," said Long. "I urge any fans who haven't bought their ticket yet for whatever reason to get them sorted as soon as. Days like this don't come around every week."
Another familiar face who could line up against the Roughyeds is Jake Wardle, with brother Joe now in the Oldham dugout as assistant coach.
"We speak weekly about rugby," Joe told Roughyeds TV.
I taught him everything you see! He's happy for me in my new role as I'm a rugby geek and if it wasn't for rugby I don't know what I would be doing. I hope he's playing in this game as I can get one of the lads to smash him!".
Tickets and hospitality are available now for Oldham's clash with Wigan, the final pre-season game before our Challenge Cup campaign starts the following weekend.
