Over the last few weeks, there has been widespread speculation about the people who have taken over the club.
We are therefore delighted to formally announce the team behind the vision of how we will get this great club back to where it belongs.
Terry Flanagan MBE – Chairman
Terry was born, bred and educated in Oldham before attending university and business school.
He made 281 appearances for his hometown club between 1979 and 1989, as well as representing Great Britain on four occasions.
Terry's business interests have primarily been in the telecommunications sector, although he has also supported and led start-up businesses in the education and charity sectors.
He is the founding chairman of Mahdlo, Oldham's outstanding youth zone, and remains actively involved as the organisation celebrates its 15th anniversary.
In 2017, Terry was awarded an MBE for his services to youth and rugby charities.
Martin Hall
Born and bred in Oldham, Martin has lifelong connections with Oldham Rugby, dating back to the 1970s when his father made almost 200 appearances for the Roughyeds.
Martin fulfilled a lifelong ambition by making his first-team debut for Oldham at just 17 years of age in the old First Division at Watersheddings against Widnes. He went on to enjoy a distinguished professional career, representing Wales at international level and winning every major honour in the game during his time with Wigan.
Away from rugby, Martin has developed extensive business interests, particularly within the property sector, and has remained actively involved in the sport in a variety of capacities since the 1980s.
As a lifelong Oldhamer, Martin is passionate about safeguarding the future of rugby league in the town. He brings a unique combination of elite playing experience, commercial expertise and a deep understanding of the club's heritage, together with a commitment to helping Oldham RLFC achieve long-term success both on and off the field.
Phil Allingan
Phil has lived in Oldham all his life, spending his childhood in Clarksfield and Derker, and now lives in Lydgate.
He is a director and shareholder in several local businesses, including Business Advice Services, Delete-a-Dent and Caffè Grande Abaco.
Phil is a lifelong Roughyeds supporter and first started going to Watersheddings as a young boy in the 1970s with his dad.
He is passionate about ensuring Oldham Rugby League Club succeeds both on and off the field and brings a valuable skill set that complements the other members of the consortium.
Kelvin Lord
Kelvin was born on the Shaw Road Estate and has lived locally in Moorside and Royton all his life.
He is the owner and proprietor of KL Transport Ltd and KL Leasing Ltd, both based in the town, and also has a small property portfolio.
Rugby league is in his blood. Growing up around his dad and brothers, the game's history in the town was always part of family life, and that passion has stayed with him ever since. He is a strong supporter of sport across the borough, particularly at grassroots and amateur level.
Kelvin will bring passion and drive to the boardroom as a director, helping to secure the future of rugby league in Oldham.
Sasi Patel
Born and bred in Oldham, Sasi Patel, better known as Sas, has a longstanding commitment to the town and continues to invest in the local community through several successful businesses across the area.
With more than 25 years of commercial leadership experience, including 18 years building and operating a multi-site retail and hospitality group, he brings extensive expertise in strategic growth, corporate governance, digital transformation and operational excellence.
Combining entrepreneurial experience with a strong PLC background, he offers a commercially focused, long-term perspective that will help support the club's ambition to grow sustainably, strengthen its commercial performance and build a successful future both on and off the field.
Chris Stephenson
Chris Stephenson is a highly experienced leader in the retail and sports industries, having served as CEO of Canterbury, the world's leading rugby brand. He has also held CEO positions with a number of fashion businesses and at JD Sports PLC.
He is now CEO of Sports Global Group PLC, the club's partner for kit supply and commercial operations, bringing a compelling proposition for our supporters. Chris is also part of Sir Kevin Sinfield's fundraising team, helping to raise millions of pounds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities.
Gary Kershaw
Born in Royton, Gary was part of the original consortium that acquired the club in 2023 from the previous owner, Chris Hamilton.
Gary was one of the founding directors of SimplyBiz in 2002, a business that was majority-owned by Ken Davy OBE, former Chairman of Super League and current owner of the Huddersfield Giants.
After the business was listed on the AIM market in 2018, Gary took the opportunity to retire from his full-time executive role.
Since then, he has worked as a professional non-executive director with several businesses in the financial sector, supporting them with strategy and corporate governance.
He is also well known within the local community for his involvement in youth sport, particularly cricket, where he remains a passionate coach at Friarmere Cricket Club despite, as he says, his ageing body.
All of the new owners are delighted to become part of this great club and urge rugby league supporters from across the borough to get behind the team and roar the Roughyeds on.
They will all be attending the Halifax fixture at Boundary Park on 12 July and would love to see as many of you there as possible.
