Oldham can confirm that half-back Logan Astley has left the club after expressing a desire to take a complete break from rugby league.
The 22-year-old played in our Championship win over Widnes on Sunday but informed the club of his decision after the game.
A former England youth international, Astley was a key part of Oldham's League 1 title-winning season last year, scoring 13 tries in 20 appearances after joining from Wigan.
Managing director Mike Ford confirmed:
"Logan has been considering his future for a while. Unfortunately after the game against Widnes on Sunday he confirmed to us that he would like to take time out of the sport and pursue opportunities away from rugby league.
"It goes without saying that everyone wishes Logan all the very best and he will always be welcome at our club."
Everyone at the club wishes Logan every success and happiness in the future, thank you for everything you have done for Oldham.
