The stunning double signing of Salford stars Ryan Brierley and Jack Ormondroyd represents the start of Oldham's Super League journey.
That's the view of chairman Bill Quinn, who says that attracting players of this calibre underlines the Roughyeds' ambitions, as rugby league gets set for a restructure.
Speaking to Roughyeds TV, Quinn confirmed the club will be submitting an application for an expanded 14-team Super League.
"Our Super League journey starts now," said Quinn.
We will be putting a bid in for Super League, and how fantastic that Oldham in just over two years of us being here can be stood here being talked about by pundits, the RFL and everyone else as being at the table for Super League.
We are putting on something here, we are not just going to knock on the door, we are going to kick on the door. We are going to survey our fans to see what they will do to get behind us and how far our attendance could go, and I ask our fans to step up.
We have the finances, we have the brains, we have the know-how. This club has been sat dormant for 27 years. Look what we have done in just over two and what we will do in the next 6-12 months.
Are we ready for Super League? Nobody is ready, I don't care who you are. This has been brought on now - and we are as ready as anyone else."
